This was something advertised that we thought we just had to go and see – and if you are quick you can see them too!
The Christmas Living Statues are live in Lagoa and will be there tomorrow Saturday 19th December from 10am-1pm – and they are stunning!
Follow the red carpet and the live music to the Rua 25 de Abril and the Largo 5 Outubro in Lagoa – or if you can’t make it then just enjoy our shots instead!
This was one of our favourite ones – such a brilliant costume and so well acted – entrancing!
The three wise men were there to oversee the walkway:
This fella looks like he needs to grow into his beard a bit more!
But this one definitely had his costume just right:
Mary and the nativity scene were very touching and simple:
And Joseph certainly looked the part:
Not all of the characters were Christmas-themed though – this one was amazing – although those eyes were quite scary!
The chestnut seller was stunning – the costumes are so brilliant, and catch the light fantastically well – it also helps that the statues are mostly perfectly still!
He really acted this one brilliantly!
All of the actors are set around the street and are waiting for you to interact with them – drop a coin in the bucket and watch the charming and entertaining cyclist come to life:
He was a very engaging actor!
Or you can turn a corner and find a real fairy hiding in the trees:
Some of the costumes were amazing!
Three of the strangest – and stillest – statues were the family outside the Opticians – so plastic and still – you really didn’t know whether they were real .. or not!
We’re still not sure!
There had to be a snowman – complete with some fake snow on the ground – which the children and families were loving too!
And of course no Christmas event would be complete without Santa!
This really was a fabulous event, free, and so entertaining. It’s such a shame that it was only on for two sessions – so if you are quick you might catch them before they leave!
Here are a few more shots for you – click on any of the images to start the slideshow!
