We would like to share a very special event with you which Dave Sheldrake Photography, together with our friends at Chilli Pepper Productions and other local companies, are proud to be sponsoring this June.

The event is organized by Niamh’s Next Step Neuroblastoma Cancer Charity. The charity was set up 5 years ago when the parents of Niamh Curry lost their little girl to this terrible disease. Niamh had battled tirelessly with her Mum, Dad and sister against this childhood cancer for the last 18 months of her life, but unfortunately lost her life. Her family decided that they wanted to set up a charity to provide a legacy for their daughter and to help other children and families who were going through the same terrible ordeal.

The charity is based in the U.K. but they help all families from across the globe whose child has Neuroblastoma. You may well have heard of Bradley Lowery, the young Sunderland fan who is bravely fighting the same battle against this childhood cancer, whilst being supported by his beloved football and other sporting stars.

Football and golf are of course synonymous with each other and this exclusive Charity Event is going to be held at the prestigious Vale de Lobo Golf – one of the Algarve’s finest resorts and golf courses. Dave had the pleasure of photographing there last year and contributed some photography work to their 2016/2017 Living Brochure – you can click the link here to view the brochure and find out more about the resort.

It’s the first time that Niamh’s charity has organized any event outside of the U.K. and they have chosen the Algarve which is great news for us. Dependent on the success and the raising of the charity’s profile, they hope for the event to become an annual one. The 10th of June will be a special event and will be hosted by a number of sporting celebrities from the world of sport including past England cricket captain Darren Gough, and Rugby Union stars Ben Foden, Stephen Myler and Lee Dickson, ‘Tubes’ from Soccer AM, and many more!

The charity has approximately 7,500 followers in Facebook, 65,000 followers on Twitter and due to their incredible celebrity patronage by Shane Filan (Westlife lead singer) & Louis Tomlinson (One Direction) it means that when the charity details an event or a tweet to their 65,000 twitters, this is then re-tweeted by their celebrity friends and then commands an audience of 18.6 million – not bad going for a small charity!
